Early:

• Mich St vs Miss St:  I do believe both AJ Hoggard (MSU) and Tolu Smith (MSST) will finish with scores close to 4x, which makes them alright picks, but your margin for error is slim and there is limited upside overall in this game beyond a 3 OT thriller to start the tournament off.
• Duq vs BYU:  I can’t see Duquesne keeping up.
• Akron vs Creighton:  Similar spot here.  Creighton rolls easily and maybe Ashworth does it all as usual, but even then he is just a safe/get me over type pick here.

 

Late Afternoon:

• Oregon vs South Carolina:  Too much defense and Jermaine Couisnard is too expensive to chase the revenge game narrative, as much as I like it.
• Nevada vs Dayton:  Nevada smokes them.

 

Evening:

• South Dakota St vs Iowa St … Expect this to be what it looks like.  Iowa State slowing it down and making life hell for the Jackrabbits.
• CSU vs Texas:  Slower game.  Avoid.
• McNeese State vs Gonzaga:  My top upset today.
• Wagner vs UNC:  Yes, you could ride Melvin Council off a big first four game, but UNC should focus heavily on him and really just push the tempo too much for Wagner who likely cannot play as fast again and remain close.

 

Late Night:

• St Peters vs Tennessee:  Avoid
• NC State vs Texas Tech:  Most likely to go to OT, but most likely will be 51-51 going into OT.
• Drake vs Washington State:  Maybe one of the top overall players on the slate is Tucker DeVries, but Washington State is not a great team to attack someone who costs 9700 with against.
