The Slapshot – Jan 7th

Big pucks night and the model/my read last few days has been locked in.  We have a slate which is clear to me on how to approach it tonight, so lets see if that trend continues.

I have a very clear path on how I want to construct a lineup tonight.  It’s the old school approach on a bigger slate which is C-W, C-W and then one offs.  But in this case we can also be smart and if playing in a larger field, go over the ownership with more skaters from one team to fully stack it up.  There’s good value with some top line road teams tonight so that’s where my primary focus is.

STARS

Roope Hintz, Jason Robertson, Evgeni Dadanov

The Rangers are still bad defensively and this game screams a high scoring affair, although I wouldn’t be shocked if someone on the blue shirts has their own hatty to keep it competitive — can you hear me Panarin?  I’m talking to you.

BLUE JACKETS vs FLIGHTLESS BIRDS

#87 – Rust – Rakell

Nice spot to try and get some extra points tonight.  Pitt has limited shots allowed in the last few games, if they keep that up tonight they should win this 6-2.  Unfortunately they also rank as the top overall stack with their first line combo of Little Bitch #87, Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell having a favorable spot to have a 3+ point night.  Dmitry VOronkov and James van Riemsdyk are the top targets from Columbus outside of going to the blue liners (Zach Werenski / Ivan Provorov)

FLAMES

Nazem Kadri, Jonathan Huberdeau, Mackenzie Weegar

Late night hammer with Calgary going into Anaheim.  Kazri and Huberdeau are the core here.

CENTERS

  1. Roope Hintz
  2. Leon Draisaitl – Favorite pay up one off center
  3. Nazem Kadri
  4. Mason Mctavish – Value
  5. Shane Pinto – Value

WINGS

  1. Artemi Panarin – Favorite pay up one off winger
  2. Evgeni Dadnov
  3. Brady Tkachuck
  4. Mitchell Marner
  5. Tomas Hertl
  6. Travis Konecny
  7. Lucas Raymond

DEFENSE

  1. Miro Heiskanen
  2. Noah Hanifin
  3. Jamie Drysdale – Top PP unit w/ Flyers.  Toronto has a good PK though, so this is more just a value spot
  4. Cam Fowler – Hot of late with no bump up on his $ and Minnesota is 27th over the last month vs Defenseman and has a low 71% PP kill rate.
  5. Moritz Seider

  1. Connor Helleybuck (Jets)
  2. Filip Gustavsson (Wild)
  3. Alex Lyon (Red Wings)
