Wednesday – May 10th – Dongers Club (Early/Main)
I am calling this the MAIN slate today, because gosh darn it, it is the main slate. It’s an early one a mid week Wednesday and a slate full of getaway day games.
FanDuel is back to their old ways splitting things up with a short Very Early slate, then the Early slate, then their own Main slate. This will be the only article today and it covers these games
- OAK @ NYY
- COL @ PIT
- DET @ CLE
- LAD @ MIL
- MIA @ ARI
- TEX @ SEA
- WSH @ SF
- TOR @ PHI
- HOU @ LAA
WEATHER
All clear

I see two paths today. For one you can take the higher end SP’s that can get 20+ in Kershaw and Castillo and ride short bus stacks like the Pirates or you can ride the short bus on Pitching with Dick Mountain (Rich Hill) and … *gulp* Sean Manaea and load up on the what feels too good to fail high priced bats in the OF and one offs today.
HIGH END ARMS
- Clayton Kershaw
- Luis Castillo
Kershaw is coming off a tough start vs San Diego, now gets a much easier opponent in the Brewers, but they do have HR upside against him today so I do not think this is a repeat of that near no hitter he had vs the Twins a year ago around the same time. Castillo is someone who tempts me the most today, the K upside is massive vs Texas, but so too is the risk here.
MID RANGE / CHEAP ARMS
- Edward Cabrera
- Rich Hill
None of the Diamondbacks hitters made my list of options today, and so we have a roof closed Chase Field game and a sub 8k Edward Cabrera who has a 31% whiff rate which could fool the Diamondbacks enough to trust him.
Sean Manaea and Rich Hill are both getting weak offenses in get away spots. Manaea will need to limit his walks vs the Nationals but should be able to do that and will win today, but there are too many metrics pointing to this game being high scoring with the Nats having some good options as well. I had him on my short list and decided to pull him back to spare you that headache.
Dick Mountain is going to get an up and down, but ready to go home (spoiler alert, they play the Phillies at home this weekend, fun!) Rockies offense which really had one big game vs the Mets and a Jurickson Profar big game yesterday but can be targeted here.
Overall SP Rankings
- Castillo
- Cabrera
- Kershaw
- Hill
Other SP Thoughts
- Josiah Gray is the best SP the Giants have seen in this series. Watch them hit 3+ HR off him today. I’ll fade.
- Gausman vs Wheeler is the battle of who wants to get destroyed faster. Gausman is coming off a rough start, so no we do not expect a dominant start here today but we also don’t expect it to be worse or as bad as his Fenway outing a week ago. Lean Toronto bats.
- This whole Eduardo Rodriguez thing has gone on long enough. Time to blow up.

HOUSTON ASTROS
Bregman, Tucker, Abreu, Pena
Not as hot as I would like in LA but warm enough and the air helps the ball travel big time in day games out in Anaheim. Canning is terrible vs RHH, so Bregman/Pena/Abreu should all fare well and we get that Tucker double dong spot today.
JAYS & PHILS
Vlad/Bichette, Harper/Castellanos
Two good SP on the mound and two offenses that should thrive in a nice weather condition spot in Philly. Bichette/Harper will battle for the longest HR of the day.
LA DODGERS
Mookie. Gimme all the Mookie today. It’s a shame he went yard last night but we’ll just hope for a back to back performance overall today. If you love stacking good teams, the Dodgers fit the bill facing a LHP for the second day in a row.

CATCHER
If Will Smith starts again today he is a good LAD stack option. Otherwise we’ll take a shot on whichever Toronto C starts
- Alejandro Kirk/Danny Jansen
- Jason Delay
FIRST BASE
Ball should travel well in Anaheim today. Higher scoring game today
- Shohei Ohtani
- Carlos Santana … The Pirates are going to Baltimore this weekend, I expect we see Santana have a HUGE weekend coming up. He is hitting really well without the all around dominant outings to show for it, mostly due to the giant PNC park dimensions.
- LaMonte Wade Jr
SECOND BASE
- Mauricio Dubon
- Zach McKinstry … Lefties in Cleveland
- Marcus Semien
THIRD BASE
- Jose Ramirez
- Alex Bregman
- Chris Taylor (SS as well)
SHORTSTOP
- Amed Rosario … Did you know, Amed Rosario has the most 4 hit games since 2021? How’s that for a trivia question.
- Jeremy Pena
- Bo Bichette
OUTFIELD – Mt. Rushmore
- Harper, Bryce
- Kyle Tucker
- Mookie Betts
- Brent Rooker
OUTFIELD – Value
- Jesus Sanchez
- Zack McKinstry
- Jack Suwinski

- Kyle Tucker – OF – Astros – Chairman of The Dongers Club
- Bryce Harper – OF – Phillies
- Jesus Sanchez – OF – Marlins
- Bo Bichette – SS – Blue Jays … Cant stop him, can only hope to contain him
- Jose Ramirez – 3B – Guardians
