NBA DFS DROPPIN DIMES-Monday, January 23rd

Looking at a 7-game slate starting at 7PM tonight. A good number of games to choose players from along with getting some nice contrarian plays.

A few games that are popping tonight: Hornets/Jazz (High total, fast pace and the 26th and 27th rank defenses, Kings/Grizzlies (High total and fast pace) and the Rockets/Timberwolves.

The Blazers have a lot of players popping on the opt using FantasyBums projections. The Jazz come in with the second most.

NOTES:

  • The Bucks should have most of their players back tonight and I have no interest in them at their current prices, especially in this matchup where the game should blow out.
  • The Celtics are down to key players with Marcus Smart and Malcolm Brogdon out- they could possibly be without Robert Williams as well. You should see Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum facilitating a bite more. They are both viable options with somewhat safe floors.
  • The Rockets will be without Kevin Porter Jr. tonight and Alperen Sengun has really stepped up in his absence. Playing 30 plus minutes and averaging over 50 FPs in the last three games.  Sengun will be my first player after core to be inserted into lineups.
  • Ja Morant and Steven Adams have been listed as questionable- this makes Tyus Jones and Brandon Clarke excellent plays along with Desmond Bane.

NBA Dashboard is also another good source to help build lineups.

The “Droppin Dimes,” article will go over my favorite plays for the slate. It will consist of three to five core plays along with some additional plays and some value plays. You will not always see the highest-priced players or the most obvious plays. The article will be the building blocks to help construct lineup/s.

NBA Dashboard is also another good source to help build lineups. Check it out here – DailyAmbush: NBA Dashboard

The Dashboard will provide projections, player ratings along with matchup and other statistics for both Ambush and me (under FB Model). The dashboard feeds the optimizer allowing users to create lineups using (Avg FPs, Ratings, FB Projections, FB Ratings, projected ownership and GPP score). This is a good tool to utilize, and it gives the user a lot of ways to mix it up.

(Note: All pricing and fantasy points are based on DraftKings but can be used for all sites.)

Always keep an eye on the status of players before lock, especially now. There are still a decent number of players with questionable tags.

LOGIC:

Point Guard:  The Celtics will be without Marcus Smart and Malcom Brogdon- two of their key guards.  This will open up a starting spot and about 60 plus minutes. I do see Derrick White playing a larger role and getting around 35 minutes tonight. I do like White but will be leaning more towards the lower priced Payton Pritchard coming in at only $3300. I like how Pritchard plays and he has a higher usage rate than White. When given the opportunity, Pritchard usually comes through and has shown upside over 40 FPs when playing around 30 minutes, which I can see him easily playing tonight .

Shooting Guard: One of the games I will be targeting tonight is the Kings and Grizzlies as this game has the highest total on the slate along with two teams that like to run. Kevin Huerter stands out with his recent play and reasonable price of $5500.  Playing an average of 31 minutes on the season and around 33 over the past three games where he has hit 35 FPs in two of those games. Pace up spot for the Kings as well.

Small Forward: The Hornets got back Gordon Hayward after missing almost three weeks and he played 25 minutes and dropped 28 FPs. I see his minutes ramping up a bit tonight where he should see around 30. Prior to his injury, Hayward was playing around 35 minutes a game. This is an excellent matchup against the Jazz who rank 27th over in defensive efficiency.  OH…. and Hayward will be playing in Utah tonight where he started,

Power Forward:  Going to another lower priced King tonight who has been starting and playing a ton of minutes as of later averaging around 39 minutes over the last three games. Keegan Murray has played well in his rookie season and has been playing even better as of late with the increase in minutes. Averaging 30 FPs over the past seven days with a ceiling of 51. Love this spot for him tonight in this fast-paced matchup.

Center:  I was on Walker Kessler last game, and he was a major disappointment putting up only 13.5 FPs in 25 minutes.  I am going right back to him in this bounce back spot against the worst team defensing centers- the Hornets. This should be an easy double-double with him posting a 15/15 game with 3 plus blocks. I will also be playing two centers in most of my lineups tonight with the other being Alperen Sengun.

Additional Plays to Consider

Alpheren Sengun and Anthony Edwards are my favorite plays besides the core-BUT if Steven Adams is out I like Brandon Clarke as PF.
