NHL DFS – The Slapshot
With two more big slates to go we have the NHL to save us from no NBA slate and a boring NFL game tonight. Actually that NFL game might be alright, but it’s got nothing on Kraken-Canucks around 11pm when you can’t fall asleep.
The only team playing a back to back tonight is the Minnesota Wild, who are at the Sharks and the Leafs/Flyers are playing a day game which is probably already 4-1 Leafs by the time you are reading this.
KRAKEN vs CANUCKS
SEA – Wennberg – Schwartz – Bjorkstrand
VAN – Horvat – Boeser – Hughes
Seattle has been very good on the road and is still the 2nd highest scoring team away from home on the season. Is there some reason for this? Probably not, but they’re also not exactly facing a dominant defense here either as the Canucks are 29th or worst against all positions in FPPG this season. I like both sides for a game stack and the Vancouver side should be slightly lower owned giving me a lot of interest in them as the top line stack overall.
CAPITALS
Strome-Sheary-Ovechkin-Carlson
Washington will put up a 4 spot tonight, I just cannot trust that it comes from one specific source — which really means I am not 100% on Ovechkin here, but if you are going Washington, you are probably going the Strome-Sheary-Ovechkin line with Carlson.
KINGS
This should be a very oportunistic game for fantasty production. Calgary is averaging 36+ shots over their last five and LA is averaging 38+ over the same time span. Both teams are playing relatively well right now and should be aggressive.

LAK: Kopitar – Fiala – Kempe
CENTERS
- Bo Horvat
- Nazem Kadri
- Anze Kopitar
- Dylane Strome
- Matty Beniers / Alex Wennberg … Beniers is playing great and isn’t that expensive but Wennberg at 4k has a good amount of value benefit tonight as well.
WINGS
- Jonathan Huberdeau (CGY) … This game has offense in it and the Flames are getting it from their wings. Tyler Toffoli is playing very well and certainly has a revenge game narrative for him but I like Huberdeau as the Kings have consistently been generous to LW for a while now.
- Kirill Kaprizov (MIN) … San Jose is without Thomas Hertl tonight, lessening their chances of being able to control the puck vs the Wild even on a Back to Back.
- David Pastrnak (BOS) / Kyle Connor (WPG) … This is a great contrarian game tonight and both of these players will be lower owned than Ovechkin.

- Jordan Eberle (SEA) / Oliver Bjorkstrand (SEA)
DEFENSE
- John Carlson … Carlson isn’t necessarily in that consistent elite DEF category this year but he still possesses the opportunity to go off. He is the main reason the Caps are playing well right now and should be able to handle the Senators – a team he has fared well against.
- Quinn Hughes … Over 4 shot attempts per game in what could be a nice moving game, Hughes should have a great chance at a point + SOG bonus.
- Justin Schultz (SEA) … Top PP unit against worst PK on the slate

- Kappo Kakko (NYR) … Longshot call of the night is Kappo Kakko scoring twice.

MY PICK …
Before you sit there and look at Bruins/Jets and say, well, hey, this game only has a 6 total I’ll just … nope, don’t do it. Dont go Linus. That’s got 18 saves, 3 GA all over it while Rittich or Helleyousuck are gonna probably lose it in overtime and I don’t see them getting the 35+ bonus.
The totals on games are coming back down as unders have been hitting this year due to the higher totals on games. With this, we’ll see ownership on Shesterkin (NYR) and Jarry (PIT) – neither of which really excite me tonight.
Filip Gustavsson is $8500 against the depleted Sharks, but his team is on a B2B. Lots of risk there for a high price and a low expected SOG against.
As you can tell, nobody really stands out to me tonight.
- Charlie Lindgren (WAS) – Team is playing well, Senators are bad, price is sub 8k. Ehh.. What could go wrong.
- Igor Shesterkin (NYR) – Prefer him over Jarry just because I don’t wanna F*** with Carolina right now
- James Reimer (SJ) – He is cheap and he served us well last time out. Minny is on B2B and will get a ton of SOG on him, so he has that going for him.
