The Dongers Club – June 20th

If you like mid range (8 games) slates then tonight is your kind of night.

WEATHER

There are no PPD risks tonight and two games with some very warm conditions but low humidity in Atlanta and Chicago (Comiskey).

GERRIT COLE

We are back to ride on the Gerrit Cole experience, which for someone with his talent shouldn’t feel like we’re on the Carlos Martinez or Julio Teheran type experience train but given that neither of those guys play in the MLB anymore it’s a nice little throw back for some of us who actually would play those guys.

Cole is coming off one of his good starts, a 6 inning, 7 strikeout performance and now draws the lowly Rays down in the Finest Costco Warehouse in Florida, that being Tropicana Field.  I believe Cole has gotten the shits out of him for a while now and will pitch the next 1-2 months very quietly before some random blow up game in late August.

YU DARVISH

Zona is a lefty heavy team which is good for Darvish right now.  80% of his pitches to lefties are being hit below .200 and only 1 has left the yard, which is good because they’re playing in a Park tonight and not a Yard…  Right?

MAX FRIED

Fried will be close to Darvish but he is also $1,400 more expensive.  We still latch onto this idea that the Giants are going to mash LHP but they’re really inconsistent this season and Fried is going to bounce back into the 20’s overall on DK tonight.

KRIS BUBIC

When you look at the Angels lineup against LHP they look like the Stock Market YTD.  Basically starts off good and then goes straight down hill.  So with Bubic he needs to command the zone against the top 3 guys well enough to not be forced into high leverage spots when the likes of Walsh, Stassi, Marsh, etc. come up because he’s far better off giving up a solo homer to Trout than he is walking the bases loaded and being pulled at 2-3 IP.  So don’t fear the Trout heater and take a gamble for a cheap SP2 tonight with Bubic.

Don’t Mind:

Burnes, Fried … Yes, they’re both fine, but Cole/Darvish get the edge for me.

RED SOX

Duran, Martinez, Bogaerts, Bradley

Boston was only good for really one game against the Cardinals, but they have managed to keep their power up despite not having long innings.  Jackie Bradley Jr continues to absolutely rake in his return at Fenway and if we’re going to have a Boston stack pay off it has to have bottom of the order production.

WHITE SOX vs BLUE JAYS

I am looking at attacking the park and environment more so than the starting pitching in this game.  But I think both SP can give up some long balls and both bullpens are likely to be hittable as well.  It is going to be warm with a high Dew Point in Comiskey tonight.

PIRATES

Reynolds, Vogelbach, Cruz

The Pirates have some value on their side as top prospect Oneil Cruz is up and min price at SS tonight, as is Bligh Madris.  Overall I kind of like the direction this Pirates lineup is headed and they should be able to hit Caleb ‘Youre’ Killian ‘Me Smalls tonight.  Chicago’s pen is not great and Killian hasn’t shown he has any swing and miss stuff.

Some people think they invented Goldy in Miller Park, it’s 1 of his 3 favorite road parks to hit in but honestly all the Cardinals have hit well there historically. Tonight though is Rowdy Tellez night at 1B, same game, same position, other side…

  1. Rowdy Tellez

CORE PLAYS

DraftKings:  There are multiple value plays (kids) tonight which makes it easier to lock in on two of the high end pitchers.  Names like ONeil Cruz, Riley Greene, Harold Castro, Rowdy Tellez, Andrew Vaughn are all good cheap bats tonight.
