NBA DFS DROPPIN DIMES-Wednesday JANUARY 19TH

Looking at a 13-game slate starting at 7pm. Massive slate tonight with a lot of options to choose from.

The “Droppin Dimes,” article will go over my favorite plays for the slate. It will consist of three to five core plays  along with some additional plays and some value plays. You will not always see the highest-priced players or the most obvious plays. The article will be the building blocks to help construct lineup/s.

Always keep an eye on the status of players before lock, especially now. There are still a decent number of players with questionable tags.

GAME/TEAM NOTES
  • Utah Jazz will be without their top usage player Donovan Mitchell- averaging 32 minutes,  40 FPs with a 33% usage rate. The players that benefit the most from this absence are Jordan Clarkson (usage goes from 26% to 31%), Bojan Bogdanovic (22% usage to 26%). Joe Ingles and Mike Conley should also see increase in usage. The Jazz also get a massive pace up spot against the Rockets who are also the worst defensive team.
  • Memphis Grizzles are missing Tyus Jones, Desmond Bane, Klye Anderson and Dillon Brooks. A good team to target tonight for value and some other plays.

CORE

Jordan Clarkson, UTAH JAZZ ($5500) 

Clarkson picks up the most usage with Mitchell off the floor coming in at over 32%.  Over the past 4 games, Clarkson has put up over 30 FPs in three of those four games and that was with Mitchell on the floor. The top rated player on the model today and for good reason.An excellent matchup against the worst defensive team in the league. This is also a pace up spot for the Jazz with am additional 3 possessions. Love this spot for the Jazz and especially for Clarkson who should see some additional playing time as well and this gives him a higher ceiling.

Joe Ingles, UTAH JAZZ ($3700)
It has been a rough ride for Ingles this year with his inconsistent minutes and play, but it is hard to over look him tonight with Mitchell out and in this matchup against the Rockets. The Rockets are one of the worst defensive teams this year and the play at a fast pace. These are two things in favor for Ingles. The Rockets also allow the 5th most 3-point attempts and Ingles likes to the let the ball fly from beyond the arc. Ingles should see 30 plus minutes and possibly a start tonight and is an excellent value at his sub 4k price.

John Konchar, MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES ($3600) and or D’Anthony Melton
Konchar has played well when given the opportunity and tonight he should see around 30 minutes with all the players out for the Grizzlies (Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson and Tyus Jones). This was a decision between Konchar and Melton- who is a viable play as well. Konchar has shown a higher upside as of late with his double-digit rebounding ability and scoring. Both should have no problem hitting value tonight as they only need around 17 FPs and can see both easily exceeding 20. This is a slate where you can play both of them and save some salary for some of the higher priced players on this massive slate.

Ja Morant, MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES ($8900)
As stated above, the Grizzlies will be without main players tonight and with them off the court Morant’s usage is at 43% and 1.5 FPPM! He should see an increase in minutes tonight as well with these players off the court. The Grizzlies play the Bucks who have been a solid defensive team this year, but are in the bottom 10 over the past 7 games. Morant has a high upside just about any night with the players listed out actually, playing and its only increases his chances to hit the upside with them out.

Dimes Play

Duncan Robinson– should see a bump in minutes tonight with Lowry and Herro out.  Blazers allow a lot of 3 balls to fly and Robinson is not shy. Reduced price, excellent matchup along with increased minutes and 5% under ownership,
