There are three games on the Tuesday schedule, so this isn’t really Top games to stack but more how each game should match-up as a cliff notes for you to understand.
Ball State (-19.5) vs Akron
- The MAC is known for bad defense and running games, but Ball State is led by QB Drew Plitt throwing it 33 times per game and Akron has let teams throw at a 70% completion rate against them. Fading Plitt on the three gamer is a strategy not highly advised today.
- Akron will respond with dual threat QB DJ Irons which makes this game the likely target for QB/Super-Flex stacks on most lineups.
- Lets take the over 58
Eastern Michigan vs Toledo (-8.5)
- EMU WR Hassan Beydoun is back and is still getting 25% of the targets, along with Dylan Drummond right next to him. Beydoun is the cheaper DK option so expect him to gain the higher ownership but Drummond has 4 TD to Beydoun’s just 1 on the season, so its really a toss up either one.
- Toledo in my mind should be higher than a 8.5 favorite, they have a clear path to dominating this game on the ground through RB Bryant Koback
- Lay the points with Toledo -8.5/-9 depending on your book.
Miami (Ohio) (-7.5) vs Ohio
- Miami is a hard to project offense as no player on the team rushes more than 10 times per game and none of them do it very effectively.
- It’s essentially deciding if you want Senior WR Jack Sorenson who is $8,400 and not someone I am in love with but could easily wind up with 120 yards and 2 touchdowns at sub 30% ownership — which is good on a slate like this. Secondary WR Mac Hippenhammer who has a great fucking name is only $4,900 and seeing a ton of targets as well.
- Love Ohio QB Kurtis Rourke who is another QB that will give you rushing upside and is facing a terrible pass defense from Miami (Ohio). Generally I dont mind rushing QB vs good rush defenses because its a little un-traditional for them to handle and I expect him to have a very good game. That said, he is not the QB who winds up rushing in the touchdowns as Amani Rogers will come in and get some run in that range as well. With two other good QB on this slate it’s hard to jam Rourke in without a lot of luck from the Ball State game.
- I like Ohio to cover this game.
POSITIONAL BREAKDOWN
QUARTERBACK
- DJ Ions (Akron) … I believe this game to be the highest scoring one tonight and so lets just take both QB and move on. The $5,000 price on Ions is hard for me to even think about passing up.
- Drew Plitt (Ball St)
- Kurtis Rourke (Ohio) … Rourke would be the contrarian QB tonight, but he has a time share situation and would essentially require a fade of the Akron/Ball State game. This is a second lineup only play.
RUNNING BACK
For a MACtion slate, you would think that this should have more RB options but it just doesn’t. Koback and Steele are the two top options. I see no reason to fade Koback.
- Bryant Koback (Toledo)
- Carson Steele (Ball st) … If you do not have Drew Plitt then you MUST have Ball State Running backs. Steele leads the way with 10.5 att per game and has 5 TD on the season
WIDE RECEIVER
- Justin Hall (Ball St) & YoHeinz Tyler (Ball St) … Fine to play both together.
- Hassan Beydoun (EMU)
- Michael Mathison (Akron)
- Mac Hippenhammer (Miami Oh)
OWNERSHIP PROJECTIONS
A three game MAC slate will always be heavy chalk, so do not over think some of these spots.
