NHL Slapshot: Tue, October 26th

We have a double dip NHL Tuesday slate with the Point Shot from Geriak and Slap Shot from me coming in with more of a tournament focused view tonight.  With just seven games tonight I would recommend honing in on four primary teams to stack and lock in on our one core stack across three lineups all together.

Let’s first take a look at where the expected ownership should be going today

  1. Colorado – The top line will be 20%+ owned, nothing that is too terrible simply because MacKinnon (8.1k), Rantanen (8.0k), Makar (6.0k) and Landeskog (6.8k) aint cheap for sure, but that will be your most popular team tonight.
  2. Winnipeg – Look for PP1 from Winnipeg to be a popular correlation tonight
  3. Calgary – They are on a B2B but folks still want to usually pick on the Devils for good reason.  Although Jersey is a slight home favorite here but we do have a certain narrative play in this game with Johnny Gaudreau being back in Jersey.

TOP STACKS

Knights vs Avalanche

Both teams are shooting the pick a ton and allowing a ton of shots on goal.  There’s no reason for me to expect this game to not have 5+ goals in it and the chances of the MacKinnon line contributing two or more of them is a high probability.  One of my three lineups tonight would most certainly have the Colorado stack involved within it but I would not have any more than that one line-up with COL 1+Makar on it.

  • MacKinnon, Landeskog, Makar (COL) + Evgenii Dadonov (VGK)

Flames vs Devils

Flames are on B2B but shouldn’t be a major issue as they were in NY last night but are on an extended road trip where they are playing well.  Johnny Gaudreau is a jersey boy and along with Lindholm/Tkachuk form a slightly cheaper stack than the Avalanche top line.  I would give consideration to Gaudreau here but look for an upset play on the Devils side with Hishier/Zacha/Tatar in a PP1 stack and there’s always ole Calgary D-Man Dougie Hamilton to throw in as well

  • Hischier, Zacha, Tatar, Hamilton, Gaudreau

Wild vs Canucks

Sign me up for the roulette wheel which is Minnesota.  They get production from all four lines and that’s always frustrating but this is my top game stack spot on this slate.  The Canucks allow over 32 shots per game and like to play fast, while the Wild have been weakest against Centers which is who we would lock in from Vancouver with Horvat, Pettersson and Miller all being the centers tonight.

  • MIN:   Fiala, Spurgeon
  • VAN:   Horvat, Pearson, Hughes

Anaheim Ducks – Value

There’s some decent value on the Ducks as usual, but it’s just a team which rarely pays off at a high level, however, we are considering them mostly as a pairing with Colorado tonight and both Ryan Getzlaf and Max Comtois on the second line should see PP1 time against a Winnipeg Penalty Kill which has not been super so far this season.  With a good chance we see Winnipeg as a popular team do not sleep on the Ducks here to pull out a 4-3 overtime win tonight.

  • Ryan Getzlaf, Max Comtois, Troy Terry

SLAP SHOTS …

LINE LOCK OF THE NIGHT:    Horvat – Pearson – Hughes (Vancouver)

ONE OFF STUD FORWARD:    Johnny Gaudreau (CGY)

ONE OFF VALUE FORWARD:   Max Comtois (Anaheim)

FAVORITE DEFENSE:     Jared Spurgeon (Wild)

BEST LEVERAGE PLAY:      John Gibson (Ducks)

BETS:

  • Devils ML
  • Ducks ML
  • Wild/Canucks OVER 5.5
