The Slapshot – Feb 8th

Six games tonight with a few new match-ups out there.

Hurricanes vs Jackets – Played yesterday and wound up being the higher scoring affair that I mentioned the talent could produce despite the pace not being there.  CBUS’ defense is just not right this season and so while I do not expect another 11 goal affair, I can see 3+ coming from the Hurricanes side.

Islanders vs Rangers – New series starting up and with the Islanders finally getting a win the other night vs Pittsburgh I wouldn’t be shocked to see them go on a little run right now.  The Rangers just aren’t clicking like they were late last season offensively.

Oilers vs Senators – Find me a prop on total PP goals in this game and take the over.  It should be 2.5 IMO and we’ll see three tonight coming from both sides as neither team is very good on the PK and both are adequate enough and by adequate I mean the fucking Oilers are a machine and the Senators should find some blind luck on a tip in or two.  Their prior two meetings finished 8-4 and 4-1 in favor of the Oilers.

Canucks vs Leafs – Dear Elias Petterson, Bo Horvat, Quinn Hughes, etc…  This is the 3rd straight between these clubs with the Leafs going for the sweep as they’ve held the Canucks to 4 goals while scoring 12 of their own.  I feel bad for Vancouver because they have good players but with this schedule format they’re really missing out on not getting to play teams like the Kings, Coyotes and Ducks and instead have the Leafs, Oilers and Flames more often to contend with.  YHTSI for Holtby.

Lightning vs Predators – If it aint broke dont fix it and that’s the motto attacking the Predators PK unit.  Nashville is the new Florida, so load up on some Tampa Defense tonight, it seems to be the theme right now.

Coyotes vs Blues – The Coyotes and Blues are playing their FOURTH straight game against each other as well tonight with Arizona having won the last two meetings.

TOP STACKS

Vancouver vs Toronto

Elias Peterson – Brock Boeser – Quinn Hughes – Auston Matthews

Man, is Auston Matthews hot or what?  I’ll take the or what because he’s been shredding the Canucks.  Vancouver HAS to try something different tonight wouldn’t you think????

And by something different I mean get the damn game canceled.

Ottawa Senators

Josh Norris – Brady Tkachuk – Thomas Chabot

Josh Norris being back in the lineup should be a nice boost for the Senators and really should help Brady Tkachuk get back on track.  Tkachuk this season has only 3 goals despite having an xGoal rate of 5.3, there’s a great chance he finds the net twice tonight.

NY Islanders

Matthew Barzal – Josh Bailey and Anders Lee

Right back to the law firm from the other night, they’ll get a similarly good match-up against the Rangers and the variance should shift back to a Barzal-Lee combination doing extremely well today.

GOALIES

Jordan Binnington (STL)

Blues should take the win back tonight to earn a split with Arizona.  If there werent the two Canada games I would be on a Blues stack tonight but there’s too many other high scoring options to get this cute.

Matt Murray (OTT)

For sub 7k you get a leverage goalie who should see 30-35 shot attempts tonight without question and I like the Sens as a stack and to steal this game, so its a nice correlation play with OTT1.

Also, the Hurricanes are starting Weird Al Yankovic on goal tonight, Im not using him, but I found that funny.
