NHL DFS: The Point Shot – Friday, February 9th, 2024

Key Skaters

W Kirill Kaprizov (MIN)

Even though we have just three games to look at on Friday, there are plenty of high-priced stars to consider. The guy I’m looking at is Kaprizov who, among those stars is considerably underpriced at $7,500. Though there have been some peaks and valleys in Kaprizov’s performances of late the ceiling at his price is something I just can’t ignore. Some will look at his counterpart Jake Guentzel ($7,700) as an option which is fine, but I could make the argument that Kaprizov should be priced up closer to the 8K range. The winger has three points in his last two home games and is averaging nearly 3.3 shots on goal per game this season. On a short slate such as this one I’m looking for ceiling out of my skaters and for Kaprizov, his ceiling games of late (25.8 or more DK points in 39 percent of his games since January 19th) gets my attention.

C Vincent Trocheck

As far as value goes, Trocheck fits the bill for the New York Rangers centering the second line and finding time on the top powerplay unit. The Rangers take on the Blackhawks, one of the worst teams in the league and a team that has lost five straight games. Chicago is allowing close to four goals per game and have the 26th-ranked penalty kill while averaging nearly 10 short handed minutes per game. Vinnie has been quiet of late suggesting that positive regression is on tap here in a cake matchup skating over 20 minutes per game.
