Sonny Gray (MIN), $9,300
Sonny comes in after a bounceback effort in his last start against the Blue Jays. Prior to that, he had been roughed up in two consecutive starts but tonight he gets a great matchup against the Detroit Tigers. Detroit has the eighth-highest K-rate in baseball at 24 percent. They also have a team-ISO of .131, third-worst in the league. Getting Sonny in a good spot at under 10K is an investment I feel good about.
Cristian Javier (HOU), $10,200
Javier is facing one of the worst offenses in baseball tonight in a spot that he’s heavily favored. His last start was absolute shit breaking a string of three our of four starts with 20+ DK points. Against the offense with the second-lowest ISO and the ninth-worst wOBA look for a bounce back here.

Bargain Pitchers
AJ Smith-Shawver (ATL), $5,500
Most likely the chalk SP2 tonight is AJSS and rightfully so. In not so many words the Rockies offense, outside of a halfway decent wOBA is terrible. The team has a K-rate of 23.4% with a walk rate of just 7% and a wRC+ of 81, the worst in baseball. We’re going off of one start here but AJSS looked good in that start and at this price, he’ll post a solid floor.
Michael Grove (LAD), $5,200
Grove gets a matchup against the pathetic White Sox and is the other bargain SP2 to consider tonight. Simply, the White Sox don’t get on base and don’t score runs. I’m no genius, but that’s typically a good combination for pitchers. I still prefer AJSS slightly over Grove, but for a slight price reduction, I’m perfectly fine with the youngster from the Dodgers.
