NHL DFS – The Slapshot
Tonight is the quiet night this week, and by quiet I mean only 7 games! Love this schedule NHL, do it every week please.
GOLDEN KNIGHTS
Stephenson-Michael Amadio-Pietrangelo, Smith
Vegas has dominated the Coyotes and right now they’re getting goals from both their top lines and should here again. Reilly Smith is on fire, but my gut says that Phil Kessel is a must own value play here, so don’t fear crossing the streams with the Knights.
Line change: Michael Amadio up to top line, Kessel down to 4th line
AVALANCHE
Comper – Rantanen – Lehkonen – Makar
I have not been one to push the Avalanche too much this season, at least I hope that it has come across that way…. We have been holding for the right spot, the right time when they are going to smash at low ownership…
And in a season when all NHL totals are 6, 6.5 or 7 we have a rare 5.5 total on the board tonight as I bet everyone finally says yeah no more Avalanche. Sure, a lot of this is on the Montreal side because they just can’t score, but I tell you that Josh Anderson and Evgenii Dadanov are scoring for Montreal to make this a respectable game, and by respectable I mean 7-2 Colorado… Here it comes boys…
WILD
Eriksson Ek – Kaprizov – Zuccarello – Addison
Feels like forever since we had the Wild in a smash spot on a normal DFS slate. Oh, they have been playing, just on afternoon or odds slates. Tonight they draw Anaheim and of late the Wild have been better on the PP which is great news against the most penalized team on a back to back.
PREDATORS
Too good of a spot to not write up Nashville and Chicago. Nashville plays low scoring, Chicago just doesn’t play defense. Nashville’s lines suck for stacking, so just dip your toes here and get some one offs.
NSH – Forsberg, Niederreiter, Josi
CHI – Domi, Kane
CENTERS
- JT Compher (COL)
- Nico Hischier (Devils) … Last night the Hughes goal came late after a strong start with lots of early SOG. Tonight the Hischier goal which is due comes.
- Chandler Stephenson / William Karlsson (VGK)
- Sam Bennett (FLA)
WINGS
Not a ton in that middle 5k to 7k range on DraftKings tonight. Very much high $ and low $ build today for DraftKings wingers.
- Mikko Rantanen … 6:29 PM Mountain Standard Time, Mikko Rantanen has just scored his second goal of the first period to give Colorado a quick 2-0 lead on the Canadiens and for sure he will get a third one in the late stages of this game tonight.
- Steven Stamkos (TB) … Stammer will be centering Kuch tonight (or so the projected lines as of this morning say so) and he has 5 goals in his last 5 games against these Red Wings.
- Filip Forsberg (NSH) … Forsberg is the best of that mid range options, his 6400 price is mostly due to the fact that Nashville just isn’t a great offense, but they can’t ask for much more than a date with the Blackhawks who are defending worse than the Chicago police department right now.
- Mark Stone & Reilly Smith (VGK)
- Joe Pavelski (DAL)
- Kirill Kaprizov (MIN) … Pricey, but 2 to 3 G upside
- Mats Zuccarello (MIN) … Extremely pricey so only go here with a full MIN yolo stack that has all the value punts around it. Kaprizov the more sure thing IMO and worth paying the extra $1300 for.
DEFENSE
- Dougie Hamilton (NJ)
- Cale Makar (COL) … So much was made about Makar’s good Sportsmanship moment when he declined a bad penalty call. Lets see if the hockey gods reward him tonight with a nice bounce on a puck.
- Tyson Barrie (EDM)
- Alex Pietrangelo (VGK)
- Roman Josi (NSH) … Expensive as hell and I would pay for Rantanen over Josi in terms of all skaters considered tonight, but nobody else could ruin the slate like him tonight.
Value Defense:
- Calen Addison (MIN)
- Nick Perbix (TB)
VALUE
You need value tonight and that’s a good thing because there is a lot of good value.

Jake Oetttinger (Stars)
We got a few good goalies at home tonight, but out of all of them I am most confident in Edmonton getting shots off to deliver a solid floor. Dallas is a good home ice team as well so I trust them to win.
OTHER …
Sergei Bobrovsky (Panthers) … I have been working hard to rebuild the Goalie projection model here on DailyAmbush and I am very thrilled to say that it seems to be right in line right now to deliver consistent results (it rocked last night). So here was my reaction when I saw it listing Bobrovsky as the top pick tonight …
Shoot… MacKenzie Blackwood is back in goal for the Devils too. Yeah, this game is either 10-9 or 1-0….. Good luck.
