NBA DFS DROPPIN DIMES-Friday, JANUARY 21st

Looking at a 11-game slate starting at 7pm.

The “Droppin Dimes,” article will go over my favorite plays for the slate. It will consist of three to five core plays  along with some additional plays and some value plays. You will not always see the highest-priced players or the most obvious plays. The article will be the building blocks to help construct lineup/s.

(Note: All pricing and fantasy points are based on DraftKings but can be used for all sites.)

Always keep an eye on the status of players before lock, especially now. There are still a decent number of players with questionable tags.

GAME/TEAM NOTES
  • Utah Jazz will be without their top usage player Donovan Mitchell- averaging 32 minutes,  40 FPs with a 33% usage rate. The players that benefit the most from this absence are Jordan Clarkson (usage goes from 26% to 31%), Bojan Bogdanovic (22% usage to 26%). Joe Ingles and Mike Conley should also see increase in usage. Last game all five starters played 30 plus minutes with Clarkson hitting 29 off the bench. Bogdanovic took 27 shots and put up 20 real points.  Rudy Gobert is questionable tonight and if he sits then Rudy Gay and Eric Paschall get a boost. With Gobert, Mitchell and Whiteside out- Clarkson hits 37% usage, Bogdanovic 28%, Gay with 26% and Eric Pashall hits 22% which is a 10% boost.
  • Golden State Warriors get the best matchup against he Rockets who rank last in defensive efficiency and also run at a fast pace.
  • Miami Heat play the Atlanta Hawks who are tied for last in defensive efficiency.
  • Boston Celtics get a good matchup against the Portland Trailblazers who are 2nd to last in defensive efficiency.

CORE

*Similar core as Wednesday as these players are in good spots again and the prices barely moved.

The Jazz may be without Rudy Gobert and if he sits out then Bogdanovic and Clarkson become excellent plays along with Rudy Gay and Eric Paschall as great value.  I will have at least 3 players if Gobert sits out.

Joe Ingles, UTAH JAZZ ($4200)
Ingles comes in as a good value again tonight as the Jazz are still down Mitchell and could be without Rudy Gobert tonight as well. He started last game and played 31 minutes an put up 28.3 FPs on a solid stat line 10-5-6. The Jazz get another good matchup against the Pistons who are ranked 25th in defensive efficiency and 28th against opposing SGs. Ingles has been getting it done on limited shooting ,but has taken 10 plus last year and earlier this year. This could be a night where he could get a few extra shots off along with the Pistons not doing well defensively in general and against opposing guards. The Pistons also allow a ton of 3-pointers to guards and Ingles likes to let the ball fly from behind the arc.

John Konchar, MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES ($4300)
Konchar ended up playing 32 minutes and posting 24.8 FPs on a well rounded stat line 6-7-3-1-2. He is in line for another 30 plus minute night with Grizzlies still down four key players. The matchup against the Nuggets is not ideal, but his ability to get it done with other stats and not just scoring and the fact he should play 30 minutes make him a good play again tonight. He is averaging .9 FPPM over the last month.

Ja Morant, MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES ($9300)
Morant is hard to pass up with the high usage he sees with Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson and Tyus Jones off the floor.  Look at what he did last game taking 27 shots and posting 63 FPs. He has the ability to push this upside just about every night with these players off the floor.

Just missed the core….
  • Joel Embiid– is playing at a high level right now and gets an elite matchup. The Clippers are allowing the 3rd most FPs to opposing centers. I have been targeting them with centers for a while now. Jokic has a 93, 72 and 50 FP games against them.
  • Jordan Clarkson– last game Clarkson put up 31 FPs. Another excellent matchup where he has upside of 45 plus tonight.
  • Bojan Bogdanovic- took 27 shots and 2nd highest usage.
Top Pay Up Spots (along with the players above-just missed core)
  • Dejounte Murray- Nets have been one of the worst teams against point guards and Murray continues to crush.
  • Jimmy Butler
  • Gordon Hayward
  • Nikola Jokic
  • Kyrie Irving

[spacer height=”20px”]

Also consider:  Dennis Schroder- if Smart is out(back-to-back  47 FP games),  James Harden, Terry Rozier-playing at a high level right now.

Also consider:  Bradley Beal, Will Barton, Kevin Huerter

Also consider:  Lu Dort- highest rated player today, Jalen Brown

Also consider:  Tobias Harris- either him or Embiid will have a big game, Jason Tatum- excellent matchup

Also consider:  Mo Bamba, Bam Adebayo

Favorite Value

  •  Jalen Suggs- playing more minutes as of late and Lakers have been bad against point guards.
  • De’Andre Hunter
  • Day’Ron Sharpe
  • Duncan Robinson
  • Franz Wagner
  • Max Strus
  • Devin Vassell
  • Jonathan Kuminga- bounce back game
  • Kessler Edwards

Dimes Play

“Uncle” Jeff Green- minutes have been in the 302 and coming off a solid game. Love this matchup against the Grizzlies where he could put up 30 plus FPs tonight.
