This is the first time we have two articles on the same day of what will be a frequent occurance. It will honestly be a week to week thing as to which days you get both Point and Slap shot articles from myself and Rob Geriak, but the larger slates are when we typically will be doubling up to give varying perspectives.
As I mentioned in Discord last night when we have dual articles Rob generally has the focus more on the CORE players which he has his eyes on for a given slate while breaking down the positional rankings (they were money last night) and I take the approach of looking at a Line Lock (top stack of the night which is generally a little contrarian) and some value players to take shots on along with the top bets of the night.
When we have one article, the Slap Shot will go into more positional breakdown to give the full menu of plays.
LINE LOCK OF THE NIGHT
The line lock goals: In an ideal scenario the line lock is going to be 3 to 4 players which correlate as an even strength or power play line and in some cases will recommend playing a defenseman with two wingers as your ‘stack’ build. The line lock needs to score 2 goals (as the Tampa2 line did last night) in some form and 90% of the time needs to not be your obvious expensive top line from the top team on the board. What works best is when the line lock can be a nice mid range 3 man stack that can score 2 goals combined and allow you to pair it with the top recommendations on the slate for the most success. A zero goal night from the line lock is an early bed time night. A one goal night gives us hope at a min cash if all else goes well. Two goals and we’re swimming. Three goals?? Oh, we’re dancing now. Four goals?!?!?!? We’re telling our 10pm goalie he can go ahead and get -12 and we wont care!
Elias Petterson – JT Miller – Alex Chiasson – Vancouver Canucks
After sending the last three seasons with the Oilers, Chiasson jumps over as the value player on this Vancouver top line to make it a very affordable Even Strength and Power Play 1 stack. I firmly believe that almost all Vancouver games this year will be at the top of our list and facing Edmonton is certainly one of the best ways to kick off stacking up their games. While McDavid and Draisaitl are logical pay up spots on Edmonton it’s the value that we get with a good Canucks offense which has my eye tonight.
Consider a 4th leg here being defenseman Quinn Hughes (PP1) or newcomber Oliver Ekman-Larrson (PP2) as one offs. I will be going OEL as I like him to score tonight.

ONE OFFS – STUD, VALUE, DEFENSE! No, these aren’t considered the “Top 3” players on a given night. They’re more the players who for their price are going to deliver the best results and something that we often need in DFS. A stud forward, a value winger and the right defenseman for his price.
