The Slapshot – Wed, March 10th

Just five games tonight and just like that the NBA All-Star break is over and the insane $ for NHL contests have slid down somewhat.  But they’re still favorable enough to keep playing.

STACKS

Edmonton Oilers

McDavid – Nugent-Hopkins – Barrie

It’s Edmonton vs Ottawa again.  Are you bored of this stupid schedule yet?  Yeah, me too.  Simply no reason to not play McDavid here tonight in my mind the only question is do you just lock in RNH or Draisaitl as well?  This isn’t just about their match-up vs Ottawa as it is what else is on the slate and nothing else competing in this price range for production upside.  I think one unique build today is to leave off either Drai or McDavid and well, I just don’t fade McDavid in this spot — that’s just me.

Montreal Canadiens

Danault – Tatar – Gallagher

UPDATE:  The Canadiens have changed up their lines and Suzuki-Anderson are now top line.  Gallagher is split away from Danault so he’s the one off, but gimme some Suzuki-Anderson road runner line tonight.  Speed will tear up Vancouver here.

In hindsight the Habs/Canucks game going under on Monday should not have been a shock since we all blindly assumed it would be another 9-10 goal output.  That said, if Montreal does not register 30+ shots tonight I would be shocked and the Danault-Tatar-Gallagher line should contribute for them today.  If you wanted to pivot down to Josh Anderson or Tyler Toffoli as one offs or a pairing it would make sense too, but I sense a Danault goal tonight since Vancouver has been extremely bad against centers over the last four weeks.

LA Kings vs Anaheim Ducks

Adam Henrique – Trevor Zegras – Jakob Silfverberg

I am here to eat the cheese!  These teams have been trending in direction of higher scoring games and we saw that with the 11 goal outburst on Monday.  Expect another back and forth high scoring affair between the two L.A. teams and with McDavid’s being on this slate we have to be drunk to not consider the Ducks with everyone being so damn cheap.

Kopitar/Brown/Iafallo are the main guys for the Kings

POSITIONAL TARGETS

CENTERS

  1. Connor McDavid
  2. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins:  $2300 cheaper than McDavid will drive his ownership up.  Consider playing both together.
  3. Philip Danault
  4. Adam Henrique
  5. Anze Kopitar

WINGS

What a bare slate for wingers.  Construction tonight I would love to either just go full value here and pay up at C&D or certainly roster 3 Centers instead of a 4th winger tonight in Utility.

  1. Brendan Gallagher
  2. Alex Iafallo & Dustin Brown.  Lean Iafallo if picking just one.
  3. Brock Boeser
  4. Tomas Tatar
  5. Clayton Keller

DEFENSE

  1. Tyson Barrie
  2. Jeff Petry
  3. Quinn Hughes
  4. Cam Fowler

TOP VALUE

  1. Brandon Saad – W
  2. Trevor Zegras – W
  3. Andreas Athanasiou – W

GOALIES

  1. Mike Smith (Edmonton)
  2. Marc-Andre Fleury (Vegas)

CONTRARIAN GOALIE

  1. Whoever starts for Arizona – I will be fading the Avalanche top line tonight, which brings the opposing goalie into play.  No confirmation as of now who is in, so monitor status.
